We are currently in the process of raising funds for Phase 1 of renovation in the building at 1601 New Hampshire (formerly, Lawrence Friends Church). Phase 1 is primarily focused on the living quarters within the building that will house Jeremiah, Wendy, and Abigail as permanent residents for the mission based out of this building and its property—along with a few necessary utility upgrades to the property as a whole.
You may be asking yourself, “Why do Jeremiah, Wendy, and Abigail need to live in this building?” Over these last two and a half years of living in Lawrence, through earnest prayer, relationships, conversations, and nearly any other form of Divine leading you can imagine, the conviction that cannot be pushed aside is that the mission God has led us to here in Lawrence begins with and ends with loving our neighbors. And with the support of EFC-MAYM, we are entirely convinced that in this mission there is no greater way to do so than living in the space we long to see used in ways that facilitate Christ-centered community, fellowship and life together. For more on this, read here: Twelve Marks of New Monasticism.
We are prayerfully seeking and believing that God will provide $40,000 by April 1, 2018 to be able to complete the work of Phase 1 by the end of July, 2018. While we are often intimidated by the idea of asking God to provide monetary resources that we know we are not able to fully produce on our own, we are reminded of the greatest blessing: that we are not doing this on our own. We are doing this with a God who is far greater than physical/tangible needs of this world and ultimately we are doing this with all our brothers and sisters in Christ…with you. So we hold firmly to 1 Thessalonians 5:24, “The One who calls you is faithful, and He will do it.”
